RIP - May 2013:
Drove by today and there’s a ’For Sale’ sign on the building. Guess they’ve officially packed it in for good. Bummer...
RIP??? - December 2012:
Not sure what’s happening with the Red Onion these days? After a kitchen fire on Christmas Eve of 2012 they’ve remained closed indefinitely. As of April 2013 their website is dead and their domain has expired. Last we heard they were going back and forth with the insurance company and various inspection authorities and would remain closed until further notice. Whether they will return remains to be seen. Sadly they were a BHON favourite so we have our fingers crossed!
Overall - June 2012:
Once again, great wings, the consistency is there, so the score has to reflect this. And one of the tastiest suicide sauces known to man.
We have to hand it to them, the wings were awesome, big, proper. Points given are for consistency, and it looks like good wings are to be expected, and the score was bumped to 89, one more visit like this and they will be in the 90’s. We forgave them for the one night of mediocrity, anybody can have an off night.
Overall - Oct 2010:
A nice place that we’ve probably driven past 1,000 times and never really noticed before. Interesting layout, with a big fireplace as you come in and the main dining area divided into smaller sections that gave it a real intimate feel. We sat in the bar section and enjoyed some of the coldest Guinness pints in recent memory along with some of the spiciest suicide wings since the 2003 Wing Ding.
Decent sized wings, with a tangy habanero sauce that cleared out sinuses and made our server’s eyes water. Reasonably priced at around $7 for 10 wings made it an inexpensive night as well. Overall a solid 85 score for the night and we’ll definately have to return to see if they can give us a repeat performance!
